Ali has always been passionate about the role music can play in the lives of people of any age, and she has enjoyed numerous opportunities to be a part of the music education of many. Her experience includes eleven years of private teaching piano, bass, cello, and upper strings (violin/viola). Ali is comfortable in many musical genres including classical/opera, musical theater and contemporary. Musical Theory and Composition is of special interest to Ali, and she teaches theory, composition, arranging, and contemporary songwriting as well.

After completing a Bachelor degree from Michigan State University, she went on to complete her Master of Music at Indiana University's Jacobs School and an additional postgraduate degree in Professional Orchestral Studies from the Manhattan School of Music.

Ali can be seen regularly performing orchestral, opera, chamber, and new music in Washington DC, Baltimore, MD, and Detroit, MI. She has toured Russia with the National Symphony Orchestra as well as Germany, Turkey, Spain, and Austria with the Christoph Eschenbach and the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival. She won a Tanglewood fellowship as well as the double bass concerto competition, performing Bottesini's Concerto No. 2 with the IU Concert Orchestra. She has performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Washington Ballet, Tanglewood, Spoleto Festival USA, the Alabama Symphony, and at the Salzburger Festspiele.
