Classical Voice: Intermediate to Advanced Professional

Born in Genoa, Capucine Chiaudani began first her musical education studying violin and then singing at the Conservatorio Martini in Bologna. She went on to further vocal training at the Opernstudio in Zurich and also with Gabriella Tucci, Maria Luisa Cioni, Carol Smith, Brigitte Eisenfeld and Maestro Paolo Vaglieri. She participated in masterclasses with Elisabeth Schwarzkopf, Giusy Devinu, Dalton Badwin and Maestro Leone Magiera.

She was prize winner at several International Competitions as Prima Scrittura at the Teatro Comunale Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence and G. Verdi/A. Toscanini at the Teatro Regio in Parma.

She also won the International Competitions Rocca delle Macie, Francesco Cilea and Voci Liriche Rosetum – Puccini in Milan. This led to her singing Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis in Carpi and the Mozart Requiem at the Basilica San Ambrogio in Milan, in collaboration with the Salzburg Mozarteum.

Capucine Chiaudani then made her operatic debut singing L’Amico Fritz at the Teatro Rosetum in Milan and Gianni Schicchi, at the San Gimigniano Festival.

She was member of the Opernstudio at the Opera House in Zurich where she sang in several productions as: Ernani under Nello Santi, Barbiere di Siviglia alongside Cecilia Bartoli, Sly alongside José Carreras, Luisa Miller under Bruno Bartoletti, Traviata and Viaggio a Reims (Corinna), winning great critical acclaim.

She started her career as soprano appearing as Despina (Così fan tutte) with live broadcast on 3SAT television channel and Anna (Nabucco) at the Ludwigsburger Schlossfestspiele. She sang Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni) at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and at the Opera Festival Alden Biesen in Belgium.

She appeared in the title role of Maria (Maria de Buenos Aires by Astor Piazzolla) in Switzerland and sang Mimì (La Bohème) at Teatro Coccia in Novara and at the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania under Donato Renzetti, with great success. She sang Fiordiligi (Così fan tutte) in Mantova and Antonina (Belisario) in Istanbul. She sang Nedda (I Pagliacci) and Tosca at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, and Alice (Falstaff) at the Stadttheater Gießen. Most recently she appeared as Tosca at the Theater Altenburg-Gera and as Desdemona (Otello) at the Wuppertaler Bühnen and the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe.

Capucine Chiaudani sang also in concerts with pianists as Dalton Baldwin and Andrea Dindo, the orchestras of the Opera House of Lwow, of the Teatro Massimo Bellini in Catania and the Orchestra Giuseppe Verdi of Milan.

She appeared at the Teatro Massimo Bellini, Catania in Pacinis Messa di Requiem under Donato Renzetti and alongside Andrea Bocelli singing the first execution of the transcription of Azio Corghi for string orchestra and two pianos of the “Sei Ariette” of Vincenzo Bellini.

At the prestigious Accademia dei Lincei in Rom she gave a recital of Verdis chamber songs.

At the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona she sang Vesperae Solennes de Confessore K339 of Mozart under Maestro Tabakov and at the Festival de la Musique Sacree in Montecarlo she sang Dvoraks Stabat Mater op.5 under Maestro Balderi. Also she gave very succesfull recitals at the BraunschweigClassixFestivals.

In addition, she played the lead in Simone Mayr’s FEDRA, when the opera had its German premiere at the Staatstheater Braunschweig (National Theater, Brunswick). OEHMCLASSICS has released a CD-recording of this production, which was likewise recorded and broadcast by NDR (Northern Germany Public Radio).

At the Schweriner Schloßfestspielen she sang Leonora in Verdis Forza del destino, Tosca at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Medee of Cherubini through Holland.

Thanks to her large tessitura and dark dramatic color of voice, her career embraced both roles of the mezzo and of the dramatic soprano repertoire: recently she is expanding her repertoire also to Falcon roles as: Eboli, Charlotte, Santuzza and Adalgisa.

She has given Masterclasses at the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar (Germany), at the Operastudio Nederland in Amsterdam, the HKB Academy of the Arts in Bern, the Swiss Operastudio Bern, and at the Opernakademie Schloss Henfenfeld.

Capucine Chiaudani has given private singing lessons for many professional and beginning singers. Collegues and students appreciate Capucine Chiaudani’s personal approach that through mastering the technique liberates the voice, thus giving the soul its final expression.

She collaborated with the Lyric Opera Studio Weimar, the Opera Studio Netherland, the Swiss Operastudio in Biel (Switzerland), the University of the Arts in Bern, the Dutch National Opera in Amsterdam.
