Weekly lessons and daily practice are encouraged.

Our students have gone on to attend top conservatories, win competitions, and become successful professional vocalists regionally and internationally. Regional and national performance and competition opportunities available through MTNA, WMTA, and NATS, among other opportunities. Classical & Musical Theater Voice Lessons

Classical and Musical Theater voice lessons in Georgetown are available for beginners to advanced professionals. Classical voice lessons require dedication and a lot of vocal and mental endurance. For those pursuing Musical Theater we highly recommend studying classical technique, which is the foundation for musical theater technique. In fact, it was derived straight out of Bel Canto singing. Theater conservatories will require classical training and nearly all successful musical theater singers have this background. Participation in monthy studio classes are encouraged.

Classical voice lessons are not recommended for young singers under 13-15 years of age, depending. We offer a specialized curriculum with a trained classical instructor to safely help your child grow vocally and musically until his/her voice is mature enough for more intentsive classical voice lessons. For more information on specialized curriculum for voice lessons for children, please click here.

A high level of knowledge of music notation, styes, performance practice, languages, diction, interpretation, and performance skills are needed and will be incorporated into lessons as needed. Sixty minute lessons are encouraged. Less time is typically not enough and more time is not safe for the voice. Basic piano skills are also encouraged to supplement classical lessons.

We offer private language classes online in conjunction with professional language teachers. Please inquire if you are interested in supplementing lessons with language studies.

Pop & Jazz Voice Lessons

Pop & Jazz voice lessons are offered to all ages and levels, from beginners to advanced professionals. We tailor lessons to each student's needs and goals. We are here to help you with whatever your goals are, whether they be for fun, for a special occasion, or to have or improve a professional career in the pop industry.

For those looking for a career, we strongly suggest taking advantage of our teachers' knowledge of classical voice. May pop singers don't understand the value of having some formal musical training; it will set them appart from the vast competition. In fact, many famous pop and jazz musicians have a classical background, including Katy Perry, Mariah Carey, Pat Benatar, Jessica Simpson, Frank Sinatra, Ariana Grande, and Justin Timberlake, just to name a few.

Developing classical vocal skills does not sacrifice a singer's individual pop sound. With the better understanding of the voice comes the ability to switch between styles and also a more complete discovery of the singer's individual sound. We want to give you all the tools you will need in this rigorous industry to discover your voice, stand up to the competition, and have the capacity to sing confidently in any opportunity that may come your way.

Voice Lessons for Children & Teenagers

Teachers and directors must be careful with young voices as their vocal chords aren't as developed as an adult's chords; children's muscles are not fully developed and they are not as large or flexible. Their resonating cavities and lungs are also smaller. Teaching children the right kind of technique and at the right level is extremely important for the future health of the young singer. While classical technique should be learned only when the vocal chords have properly matured, young singers should begin as soon as possible to learn good, healthy habits to preserve the voice, prevent injury, and prepare for classical training in the future. It is also an good age to begin developing musicality and interpretation. Vocal maturation often begins between 13 and 15 for young girls, usually later for boys.

Dangerous Practices in a Child’s Voice:

1. Any kind of belting, especially with a forward thrusting jaw.

2. High larynx singing, or forcing a child-like sound on a maturing voice.

3. Depressed larynx singing, or forcing an adult sound on a child's voice. This often occurs while imitating pop or rock singers that are adults.

4. Loud, pushed singing.

5. Lack of open pharyngeal space, which protects the vocal folds.

Our young students are very involved in performing in Washington, DC. We are proud to teach members Washington National Opera's Children's Chorus, Washington National Children's Choir, the Washington National Opera's Opera Institute, and numerous leads in school and local musicals.

Guitar Lessons for Adults

Guitar is a wonderful instrument to pick up at any age. It is a portable, apartment-friendly instrument with the versatility to be used as a solo instrument, accompaniment for the voice, and as part of a larger ensemble such as a band. It also has the advantage of being the instrument of choice for much of popular music over the last 50 years. This instrument crosses cultural boarders like few others as the basis of such genres as Spanish Flamenco, Blues, and Rock & Roll. Offering lessons in all these genres in one place, students come to us to explore these various genres in ways that is not available at other studios in a positive, collaborative community.

Learning the guitar also has the benefit of having a low initial instrument cost compared to many other string instruments and a relatively high level of reward from just a few guitar lessons, as many popular songs are built off just a couple simple chords.

Can't I just teach myself the Guitar?

No matter what, you are always your most important teacher. An instructor can give you the tools to improve, but it is only you who can teach yourself to implement these tools. As we said, there is a relatively high level of reward from just a few guitar lessons, as many popular songs are built off just a couple simple chords. Because of this, many people think they don't need lessons, or don't need many or frequent guitar lessons. This couldn't be further from the truth, as the guitar is highly sophisticated instrument, requiring high levels of mental & physical virtuosity that only lessons with a knowledgeable instructor and regular practice will let you master. Especially for beginners, lessons are ALWAYS a good idea in ADDITION to teaching yourself, using books, videos, the Internet, and other resources. Trying to each yourself will only help you get more out of your lessons and improve faster. If you are currently teaching yourself, that is great news! Lessons will greatly increase your success and speed up the process, not to mention make the whole learning process easier and more enjoyable. If you're still on the fence about whether to take guitar lessons or only teach yourself, our best advice before deciding is to try at least one lesson with a knowledgeable instructor and see the value for yourself before deciding.

Guitar Lessons for Children & Teenagers

Guitar is a very popular instrument for kids and teenagers. Getting to the point of actually making music can be faster on the guitar than on other instruments, capturing kids attention easily. It also offers the basis in an instrument that has much of the songwriting over the past decades written for it, so the repertoire is easily accessible. Like with the piano, we often get questions about a child's hand size in relation to the guitar. This is not an issue as there are many guitar companies that make smaller guitars for smaller hands and kids. It is also absolutely fine to begin learning with a Ukulele  Hand size will not be an issue with a properly sized instrument. You might consider renting these instruments if you are concerned your child may quickly out-grow the guitar sizes.

Beginning with weekly lessons of 30 minutes or more is encouraged.
