Donate Today

All of our programs are funded solely from generous donations from the public. We need help specifically funding tuition assistance for educational opportunities to talented musicians who cannot afford music lessons on their own. We also need assistance providing instruments and practice facilities to students and the community. Every dollar donated makes a difference. Today, the arts needs your support more than ever.

How To Make A Gift

It is possible to make gifts with many kinds of assets and in a variety of forms. Options include cash, checks, credit card, bank transfer, gifts of marketable securities, and other assets.

Gifts of Cash

A gift of cash entitles you to the most generous federal income tax deduction available for charitable contributions. You may deduct up to 50% of your adjusted gross income for gifts of cash and may carry any amount over that figure forward for up to five additional years. Cash may be donated via check or credit card; however, please be aware that credit card processing fees will be taken away from your donation.

Cash and Checks should be made payable to the M Institute for the Arts and mailed to:

M Institute for the Arts, Inc.

Attn: Susanna Barasch, President/CEO

1038 31st St NW

Washington, DC

For payments by Credit Card, please fill out the form to the left.

In-Kind Donations

These are donations of goods or services, such as a donation of a piano. In-kind donations are tax-deductible. To make an in-kind donation, please contact us at or (202)-810-5053.

Gifts of Marketable Securities

A gift of appreciated securities that you have held for more than one year is frequently the most economical way to give. You will be eligible to take a federal income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the stock on the date of the gift for up to 30 percent of your adjusted gross income and will not have to recognize the appreciation as capital gain.

Securities Held by Your Bank or Broker

Please notify your bank or broker that you are making a gift of securities to us and instruct your bank or broker to contact Susanna Barasch, President/CEO at (202) 810-5053 or for instructions. Please tell your bank or broker not to proceed until speaking with us.

Securities Held by You

Please send unendorsed certificates by mail, along with a letter giving your name, address, and the purpose of your gift to:

M Institute for the Arts, Inc.

Attn: Susanna Barasch, President/CEO

1038 31st St NW

Washington, DC

In a separate envelope, please mail to the same address a stock power for each certificate, along with a copy of your letter. Do not complete any information on the stock power other than your signature and the date. If the certificate represents a greater number of shares than you intend to gift, please enclose a note requesting the return of a new stock certificate with the non-gift balance.

Your bank or broker can supply you with blank stock powers. For the quickest handling, please do not fill in our name as transferee on either the stock certificate or the stock power, and please do not send stock certificates to a transfer agent for transfer into the M Institute for the Art's name.
