The duo behind the popular web series, “Angry Fat People”, Matthew Anchel & Tracy Cox present this exclusive workshop designed for all opera industry professionals — singers, voice teachers, opera administrators and casting professionals. Learn the foundational principles of Body Justice and how as singers we can and should set boundaries around our bodies when working in the arts. Designed to also demonstrate how inclusivity can actually help us at the box office and improve power dynamics within the industry. An educational and entertaining class you won’t want to miss.

MATTHEW ANCHEL - Bass Matthew Anchel, called "a voice to watch" by the Wall Street Journal, was a Grand Finalist in the 2013 Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. During the 2018-20 seasons Matthew joined the ensemble of Oper Stuttgart., His roles included Don Bartolo (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Benoit (La Boheme), Crespel/Luther (The Tales of Hoffman) and The Cook in Love of Three Oranges. He spent the summer 0f 2019 at the Glyndebourne Festival, covering Sarastro in The Magic Flute. Prior to Stuttgart Matthew celebrated his fourth year on the Metropolitan Opera roster, covering in new productions of The Exterminating Angel and Cendrillon. He also joined Santa Fe Opera to cover Tsar Dodon in their production of The Golden Cockerel, debuted with St. Petersberg Opera as Sarastro in The Magic Flute, returned to Spoleto Festival USA as Lamberto in Pia de' Tolomei, and sang the Bass Solo in Mahler 8 at Carnegie Hall.

TRACY COX - Hailed by LA Weekly as a “force of nature”, soprano and Fat Politics activist Tracy Cox is a performer and artist whose talent has been recognized across the industry, garnering her a Sullivan Foundation Award, the Birgit Nilsson Prize at Operalia and the Kirsten Flagstad Award from the George London Foundation. Tracy keeps a full schedule by regularly covering at the Metropolitan Opera, performing in recital, and producing her popular web series, “Angry Fat People”. She has been interviewed by the New York Times on Fat Politics and currently has over 12,000 followers on her Instagram, @sparklejams. Tracy holds an MM from UCLA, and completed fellowships with LA Opera’s Domingo-Thornton Young Artist Program, Ravinia-Steans, Wolf Trap Opera, and Music Academy of the West.
